Day 1-3: Durga

Goddess of courage, strength, victory and divine protection

The goddess Durga is the shakti power who wards off all evils and provides protection to her devotees. She is shown to be riding a lion, complementing the aspect of courage or valor, which is the essence of Durga Shakti. When there is positive energy or the Durga shakti, negative forces cannot overpower us. The Goddess is depicted with many hands – representing multifaceted skill in action and the capabilities to surmount all obstacles.

We pray to Ma Durga to become empowered & victorious on the spiritual path.

Day 4-6:  Lakshmi

Goddess of wealth & abundance

Lakshmi is the goddess wealth and sustenance – vital ingredients bestowed upon us for maintenance and progress in our lives. Her lotus seat floating on the water represents stability within flow of abundance. Lakshmi helps us create the healthy circulation of abundance in our lives, through receiving what need and acting in generosity.

We pray to Ma Lakshmi to provide for our complete spiritual and material well-being.

Day 7-9: Saraswati

Goddess of music, arts, divine knowledge & wisdom.

Saraswati reveals to us the essence (Saara) of the self (Swa). She is the river of consciousness that enlivens creation through divine expression.  Her rays of wisdom dispel the darkness of ignorance and show a higher path through chaos and confusion. To realize her one must go beyond the pleasures of the senses and rejoice in the serenity of the spirit.

We pray to Ma Saraswati for higher understanding on the spiritual path, and to become a vessel for divine creation.
