Help Build The New Hanuman Taos Temple
By His Grace, the Ram Dass Love Serve Remember Foundation $10,000 Challenge Match has been met!
The Grace has continued to manifest as Hanuman-Ji’s new temple has completely taken shape and is already manifesting the vibration of a sacred space. During the last several months all the plumbing and electrical wiring has been completed; the covered walkway and the portal around the restroom facility has been constructed; the doors and windows are installed; and the tongue and groove aspen ceiling is nearly completely installed. Baba willing, soon the floors will be installed, the stucco on the outside and the plaster on the walls inside will be done, and work can begin on the fine details of the interior.
Due to some cost increases and the demanding nature of the design, the projected date of completion is now sometime in early 2019. Once the completion date is known, everyone will be informed of the plans for the great celebration of Sri Hanuman-ji’s installation in His new home!
In order to continue to move forward and build without a break through the summer, we must raise $400,000 between March 1st and August 30th, 2018.
It has been said that Maharaj-ji did not seek funds to build His temples; rather, the funds and building materials came when needed. An endeavor such as this can only be accomplished by Him, and through His grace the funds will be provided to complete Hanuman’s temple.
Everyone’s generous participation will help ensure that the funds necessary to complete the project are in hand. All contributions will help make the completion of the temple possible!
Of course, being moved to participate is its own blessing. We would also like to say thank you! There are a wide variety of gifts to choose from so be sure to scroll all the way through!
It is such joy to participate in the seva of the sacred endeavor of building our Hanuman-ji’s temple!
Jai Sri Ram!
Maharaj-ji’s Taos ashram was established over forty years ago when our Hanuman-ji, commissioned by Ram Dass, arrived in the U.S. The ashram began as a humble and informal gathering place for devotees to remember Baba, share stories and food, and to enjoy the company of satsang.
In 1981, the milking room in the 100-year-old adobe barn was converted into a tranquil temple room where Hanuman was installed. To this day, Hanuman-ji still sits on part of the original mango wooden crate in which he made the long journey from India to America. As Maharaj-ji’s teachings and Hanuman’s example of unconditional love and seva spread, the temple has become a place of pilgrimage for many hundreds of devotees and visitors who come for darshan. We have outgrown our small multi-use space and it is no longer functional in meeting the community’s needs.
Construction of Hanuman’s New Temple began in September 2016 and is expected to be complete by September 2018. This is the only Hanuman mandir being constructed in Maharaj-ji’s name in the United States at this time and follows Baba’s long and loving tradition of building Hanuman temples throughout India for the benefit of the surrounding communities. As in the Ramayana, Hanuman has brought Ram’s ring to Sita. With it comes tidings of her imminent release from captivity. Hanuman’s message brings the promise of love and faith, a faith that moves mountains. His presence, without doubt, will reunite Sita with Ram, our souls with the Supreme. In the Taos temple, Hanuman plays a special role in the transmission of devotion and wisdom, and his mission to deliver Ram’s ring to Sita is a reality!
