As ever, life at Maharaj-ji’s ashram in Taos continues to change and evolve. By His grace, several resident staff have transitioned out of the ashram in the last few months. We take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation and acknowledge the following staff for their seva and the unique gifts that each of them brought to the community during their time here. Each of them will be sorely missed for their devoted service to Maharaj-ji and the Taos ashram satsang. Jeffry Breau, General Manager; Ximena, Caretaker; Melanie Chandra Devi Anania, Puja Dukan and social media seva; Luke (Goldilox) Weaver, artist in residence and garden and farm seva. We send each of them best wishes for their next step on the path of devotion wherever it may lead and express our gratitude for their time spent in Taos. The seva at Baba’s Taos ashram continues with love and devotion. Although the ashram continues to observe safety measures instated due to Covid-19, the ashram is being well cared for by devoted staff. Daily puja is being done, the ashram, farm and grounds are being meticulously cared for by Ram-ji, Joe, Naomi, Gwen and several sevaks. Their care and loving devotion to Baba and His ashram is greatly appreciated.
Recently we decided to have a limited soft opening for devotees to come for darshan of Baba and Hanuman, while following all recommended safety practices. The first soft opening was on Saturday June 20, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. It was so sweet to finally have devotees come to the ashram, even if on a limited basis. This past Saturday, June 27, devotees came again and this time up to three people at a time were let in to the Mandir to have darshan, pranam to Maharaj-ji and Hanuman and receive prasad of kicheree and chai. Not many devotees came on either day, but those who were able were overjoyed to once again come to the ashram and mandir. These were both “soft openings” and were only publicized by word of mouth due to concerns about the virus and the desire on our part to have a trial run before the limited on-site Guru Purnima celebration, planned for July 4, 2020. The hope is that after Guru Purnima we will be able to continue to have devotees come to the ashram for darshan on a limited basis.
Please keep in mind that travel to New Mexico from out of state is discouraged at this time for unessential purposes.
Upon the advice of our consulting epidemiologist, Dr. Larry Brilliant, a longtime devotee of Maharaj-ji, who guided his participation in the World Health Organization’s eradication of small pox in the 1970’s, We will continue to keep the Ashram Closed to all Visitors. It is the wiser course for all devotees to refrain from premature visits to the ashram for Darshan currently to prevent the potential spread of the covid 19 coronavirus.
If you are planning on visiting New Mexico at any time, by car or plane, please note that as of July 1st NM state Mandate REQUIRES all persons traveling from out of state to observe a 14 self-isolation quarantine upon entering the state. Masks are required in all public spaces and a minimum 6 foot social distance is encouraged. Thank you for helping to keep our community and the world a safer place for all.
We will continue to do our best to work with the state and local agencies to alert you to any changes as we all move towards a safe re-opening. We at the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram are doing all we can to maintain a safe and healthy temple for you all to return to when we have made it through this challenging time.
