Guru Purnima and Ram Dass’ Celebration of Life:
Chanting of Maha Mantra (Hare Rama, Hare Krishna)
The Guru is honored on the full moon in July, when the moon is closest to the Earth, the time to worship God in form. This year Guru Purnima celebration will include singing of the Sundarkand on Friday, July 3rd in the afternoon followed by aarti and kirtan in the evening. The Sundarkand is the fifth book in the Ramayana. Sundara Kanda is the only chapter of the Ramayana in which the hero is not Rama, but rather Hanuman.Prasad lunch will be served daily. Chanting of the Maha Mantra will begin at 1:08 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th and will continue for 24 hours, followed by aarti and bhandara prasad on Sunday, July 5th.
OF SPECIAL NOTE: Ram Dass’ Celebration of Life Memorial and Remembrance of K.K. Sah will begin on Sunday, July 5th at 3:00 PM. The ceremony will include speakers, singing and the planting of a trees in the ashram Memorial Orchard.
