Ashram Seva Opportunities
Maharaj-ji said, “When the Guru leaves His body, the Ashram becomes His form.” We try to live in that spirit—caring for this place as Baba’s home, and receiving each person as His guest.
We are looking for those who:
Feel a sincere connection to Maharaj-ji, Ram Dass, or a path of service
Are willing to work hard and take responsibility
Can live and work in community
Are steady, adaptable, and grounded in their intention
If you feel called to do so, we invite you to apply. Please use the application link below to apply.
Once submitted, Operations Management will follow up to schedule an interview.
Full Time Caretaker Positions
The Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and Hanuman Temple is seeking individuals who feel a genuine call to serve. We are currently looking to bring on up to eight full-time, live-in staff members.
Serving at the Ashram is not a retreat from the world—it is a life of seva. Daily life is active and hands-on, centered on caring for the Ashram and for all who come here for darshan, connection, and peace.
Maharaj-ji said, “When the Guru leaves His body, the Ashram becomes His form.” We try to live in that spirit—caring for this place as Baba’s home, treating the Ashram as though we are taking care of His body, and receiving each person as His guest.
The work is simple but constant —cleaning, cooking, organizing, helping visitors, and maintaining the grounds. It requires consistency, humility, and a willingness to serve wherever needed. Staff also have the opportunity to participate in daily puja, kirtan, and the chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa.
This path asks for commitment, reliability, and the ability to live and work in community. It is not always easy, but it is deeply meaningful—a life grounded in service and devotion.
Permanent staff take on a central role in the Ashram’s daily life and receive a salary, housing, food allowance, paid time off, and a monthly medical contribution. A six-week training period is part of the process, after which a full-time position may be offered.
Summer and Winter Seva
Ram Ram
We
The Ashram welcomes devotees and sevaks throughout the year. There is always a need for help, especially before, during, and after our festivals—these are beautiful times to experience the joy of bhakti and karma yoga in action.
Summer & General Sevaks (May–October)
The Ashram offers live-in opportunities for sevaks from May through October in our open camping area. Sevaks provide their own camping gear and personal equipment (no RVs or tents larger than 10 ft).
Approved sevaks may stay for up to six weeks, with the option to request an extension through October.
All sevaks are expected to contribute 30 hours per week, working alongside staff in the daily care of the Ashram.
Life here is hands-on. There is a good deal of physical work, and sevaks should be willing to engage fully in whatever is needed to support the Ashram and Temple.
Accommodations include:
A purely vegetarian kitchen with simple, nourishing meals
Shower and bathroom facilities
Tent camping spaces
A vibrant social, cultural, and spiritual environment
The Ashram is located close to the center of town, with grocery stores and essentials within walking distance.
Please note:
No drugs or alcohol are permitted on the property
No pets
Children may be considered on a case-by-case basis
We ask for maturity, good communication, and a willingness to work, listen, and learn
Winter Sevaks ( November - March )
We can accommodate up to two dedicated individuals during the winter months. A 6–8 week commitment is required.
Winter sevaks are provided with indoor housing and meals, along with the opportunity to more fully immerse themselves in service and daily Ashram life.
At the end of this period, those interested in staying longer may be considered for a full-time, paid staff position.
Year-Round Sevaks / Caretakers
Those interested in becoming a year-round sevak or caretaker must first complete at least one Summer Sevak session.
Caretakers live at the Ashram year-round and are provided housing, food, and access to facilities. They take on a deeper level of responsibility and are trained in weekly pujari duties and ongoing temple care.
If you feel called to serve, we welcome you.

Daily Seva Opportunities
The Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and Hanuman Temple is a unique spiritual community where people from all walks of life come together in the spirit of seva—selfless service—as a path to communion with the Divine.
This ideal of sacred service is beautifully embodied by Hanuman, the beloved monkey deity who offered His entire being in devotion to His divine master, Lord Rama. As we each go about our daily duties, we strive to cultivate this same spirit of seva, holding the sacred intention that whatever we contribute supports the highest good.
There are many ways to serve at the ashram—from growing food to preparing meals, from caring for sacred spaces to supporting daily operations. We also welcome those with skills in:
Carpentry, natural building, and maintenance
Music and fine arts
Retail, office, and clerical work
Technology and computer support
Cleaning, organizing, and beautifying spaces
Whether you're local or just passing through, you're warmly invited to participate. You can inquire with any of the resident staff or check the daily seva board to see where help is needed.
In the weeks leading up to, during, and after our festivals, there is always extra seva needed—a beautiful time to serve the ashram community. Help is especially appreciated in the kitchen, farm, puja dukan (gift shop), office, and in cleaning and maintenance.
If you have a particular skill you'd like to offer or are interested in a specific project, please let us know. If you’d like to commit to a weekly seva role, feel free to reach out to hear about our current and ongoing needs.
Love, Serve, Remember
Seva to Maharajji is a great blessing and a privilege. Karma Yoga, or “work as worship”, along with Bhakti Yoga, chanting and devotional practices, is our primary form of spiritual practice here at the ashram.
Seva should be done with full attention, silently chanting a mantra or bringing the mind again and again back to the task at hand. Conversation should be kept to a minimum and each task should be done with care and loving intention as a sacred offering.
Kitchen Protocol
We welcome your participation in kitchen seva! Before helping out in the kitchen, please make sure you are showered and in clean clothes. All food or drinks prepared in the ashram kitchen are offered first to Maharajji and Hanuman ji before being enjoyed. Please do not taste or smell any food (even during preparation) before it has been consecrated. Do not eat or drink while preparing prasad. Keep personal belongings out of the kitchen. Do not sit or place small children on tables, counters or cooking areas. Keep conversation to a minimum in the kitchen. Please walk around unless you are coming into the kitchen to do seva.
Cleanliness and Ashram Dress Code
Before engaging in any indoor seva or attending prayers it is customary to shower and wear clean clothes. Thank you for observing this custom. For men and women staying at the ashram, body should be covered from shoulders to knees at all times in or around the main temple building, kitchen and temple room. Please also refrain from wearing transparent or tight clothing. Modest tank tops and shorts are acceptable at the farm.
