Dear Satsang,
We hope you all had a wonderful Hanuman Jayanti and are staying safe during this challenging time. Unfortunately, given the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic, the ashram will remain closed through at least the end of April. The state of New Mexico has extended the state of emergency and stay-at-home requirements until April 30th. We will continue following the situation and government orders and update everyone at the start of May.The ashramites who live and serve at the ashram have been taking strong steps to ensure the health and well being of one another. We sanitize all high-touch surfaces in the ashram multiple times a day and have limited grocery runs to once every two weeks. We are fortunate that the gardens are already producing nutritious produce and flowers that can be used for puja. Even though the ashram is closed, we are continuing all of the daily offerings, pujas, and aarti ceremonies. It’s important that we not only care for one another but also ensure the deities and space are cared for. Additionally, we’ve been catching up on maintenance projects around the ashram, including sanding and refinishing benches, pruning the many ashram trees, cleaning and re-digging acequia ditches, and a wide variety of repairs. We are fortunate to have a live-in team that has a wide range of skills and a deep devotion to Maharaj-ji and His ashram. While our biggest seva at this point is doing what we can to limit the spread of the virus, we are also partnering with two local food pantries to ensure the community is fed. The ashramites have been able to both donate food and volunteer packing and loading boxes into people's cars. These groups have worked with the New Mexico health department to set-up their processes and we’ve found that partnering with them is a safe and effective way to help ‘feed everyone.’We miss seeing all of you at the ashram but so appreciate what everyone is doing to help keep the community and country safe. It’s been heartening to see all of you joining us virtually for our aarti prayers. We will continue to live stream our twice daily aartis and are also streaming and posting frequently on our Facebook and Instagram accounts, we hope to see you there! If you’d like us to post any other online content or have additional thoughts, please reach out at feedback@nkbashram.org.With so much love,Jeffrey Breau Devotee and Sevak
